5 Indoor Activities to Enjoy with the Entire Family

5 Indoor Activities to Enjoy with the Entire Family

January 7, 2020

Holiday season is a magical time, but once it’s over and winter temperatures continue to drop, it can be easy to catch the “post-holiday blues.” However, there’s still plenty of family fun to be had once the holiday décor is packed away. Get a jump on bonding with your loved ones with these 5 indoor activities to enjoy with the entire family!

1. Plant an herb garden in your kitchen

This activity is not only fun, but also a useful hobby for future recipes! Herbs can add zest to nearly any dish and are easy to grow right in your kitchen. Some suggested herbs are:

  • • Thyme
  • • Basil
  • • Rosemary
  • • Parsley
  • • Cilantro

Remember to plant your herb garden in a location that gets at least six hours of sunlight each day and to give them plenty of water. Once the herbs are ready for harvest, cut the foliage and enjoy your new spices.

2. Family game night

Board games are a classic way to interact and engage with family members and encourage friendly competition! Here are some of our favorite suggestions for board games on cold days or nights spent indoors:

  • •  Monopoly
  • •  Catan
  • •  Clue
  • •  Battleship
  • •  Scrabble
  • •  Jenga

Prepare yourself for laughs and memories you’ll never forget.

3. Bake a healthier dessert

Who says desserts can’t be healthy? Baking can be an incredible bonding experience when done with family, and when you find recipes that are healthier than your classic dessert recipes — we call that a win-win situation. Find your favorite vegan dessert here, and prepare to impress.

4. Plan a movie night

Did you know that Disney recently rolled out its own streaming service? Disney+ gives families access to content by Disney, Pixar, National Geographic, Marvel and more — all at the click of a remote. With hundreds of films available to watch, grab some popcorn and settle in for a movie night with the family.

5. Volunteer at a food pantry

This winter, provide help for those who need it by volunteering your time at a local food pantry or homeless shelter. This is a great way to get out and about while staying indoors, and the entire family will leave with full hearts knowing that they made a difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate.

We hope you enjoy making the most out of winter by finding simple and fun activities to do as a family, and remember that Wearever is here to protect you wherever (and whenever) you go.
